We have started up a new way to hear what our participants want to say with a group called Voices and Choices. This group is made up of a facilitator who has been trained in active listening and group facilitation and representatives from each program area. Voices and Choices will hold quarterly meetings to discuss topics such as program activities, environment and safety, staff support, community involvement, and choice and independence. Facilitators will prioritize accessibility, making sure each member has a way to share their ideas.

The group held its inaugural meeting in March, and Associate Director James Greeley reported that it was a great success. It was attended by 10 participants, 3 DSPs, the Day Services Director and Associate Director, and observed by a few Residential Program Mangers as well. James said he was impressed by how everyone had come prepared with something to talk about.

These participants will remain in the group for a full year to allow for meaningful follow-through, and then a new group will be selected. We look forward to seeing what kind of ideas and insights will come out of this new endeavor!
